A locally owned brewery is expanding and opening a second location in The Fan.

Chesterfield-based Steam Bell Works is in lease negotiations to launch a new brewery located at 1527 and 1529 W. Main St. It will be called Canon & Draw Brewing Co. and is expected to open in fall 2017.

It will be the first brewery in that neighborhood, and is brought to you by the same family who brought the first production craft brewery to Chesterfield.

Canon & Draw Brewing Co. will open with eight beers on tap, ranging from lagers, saisons, and IPAs. You can expect to find regular live music performances, hot food options, a public tasting room, and a private event space that can be rented out.

“Customers should expect a different portfolio of beers than they’ve become accustomed to at Steam Bell,” said Brad Cooper, founder of Steam Bell Beer Works, in a press release. “We are excited to continue to innovate and experiment with flavors and offerings as we grow our brand in the heart of Richmond, a city and community of people that mean so much to our family.”

Brad and Brittany Cooper are siblings and Chesterfield natives. They both call Richmond home, and now so does their second brewery.

According to the company’s press release, “the meaning behind the name of the new brewery comes from the French word for barrel (canon) and one of the primary tools used in the barrel making process, the draw knife.”
